We had the pleasure of speaking with Aaron Yeboah, Back of House Operational Manager at The Langham about his experience working with Act-Clean. Aaron shared his insights into how Act-Clean supports his team, why the partnership works so well and the special camaraderie between the Act-Clean team and The Langham’s back of house staff.
How long have you been working with or known Act-Clean? Have you worked with Act-Clean anywhere else?
I’ve known Act-Clean for six years now – five years while I was working as a Security Officer and nearly one year in my current role as Back of House Manager. It’s been great to work with them in different capacities and see their consistency and professionalism across roles.
In what capacity do you interact with Act-Clean in your current role?
I manage the day-to-day operations and work closely with Act-Clean’s Area Manager, Ann Odia. Together, we ensure that all areas are cleaned properly and that the cleaning equipment is kept in excellent condition. The collaboration between our teams is key to running a smooth and efficient Back of House operation.
What are the benefits of having Act-Clean work at The Langham?
Having an organised company like Act-Clean supporting us offers several benefits. For one, it allows me to confidently delegate a significant portion of the evening workload to the Act-Clean Manager, knowing that the tasks will be completed efficiently and to a high standard. Additionally, the close relationship we’ve built with Act-Clean fosters a strong bond between my night Back of House team and theirs. This collaboration helps streamline operations and ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
How do you communicate with the Act-Clean team when you need something outside of the usual schedule?
I communicate directly with Ann, Frank or William (our Act-Clean Supervisor). We talk either face-to-face or via email. Because we’ve worked together for so long, our communication is informal but effective. It’s easy to get things done when there’s that level of trust and understanding.
Do you have any good memories or stories involving the Act-Clean team?
When I was a Security Officer, I used to work a lot of night shifts and one of the best memories I have was every night at 2am, all the Back of House staff and Act staff would meet in the canteen to laugh and joke while eating. Everyone would spend about half an hour enjoying each other’s company before going back out into the hotel.
This tradition never changed when I became BOH Manager and it is such a warming feeling that they still treat me like that Security Officer for those 30 minutes; asking me questions and sharing stories with each other and all around having a good time enjoying each others’ company. You can tell we all have a very close bond at The Langham.
Can you think of a time when the Act-Clean team went above and beyond?
Act-Clean always goes above and beyond. Whether it’s sharing chemicals and equipment when we’re in a pinch or stepping up to support with a deep clean, they’re always there when we need them. Their willingness to help has allowed us to build a strong, collaborative relationship. In turn, our back of house team is always ready to support Act-Clean when they need us. It’s a partnership in every sense of the word.
