Manager Spotlight: Meet Olayinka James, Night Operations Manager at Act-Clean.

In the second edition of our meet the team series, we sat down with Night Operations Manager, Olayinka James to discuss his drive and determination to keep improving, as well as his favourite aspects of the role to date.

How long have you been with Act-Clean?

I began working with Act-Clean back in 2022, initially joining the team as a Cleaner, before being promoted to Night Operations Manager.

What businesses do you work with?

I lead the teams responsible for the managed cleaning of Rosewood London, The Standard, Shangri-La The Shard, The Lansdowne Club, The Stafford London and Brown’s Hotel.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Being able to interact with our clients on a daily basis is a particularly enjoyable part of working for Act-Clean. Ensuring that they’re happy with our service and delivery of a best-in-class experience brings me great joy. We set the highest of standards for ourselves, so to have a satisfied client is equally as rewarding for us!

In addition, being part of a diverse team means we learn from each other by collaborating, sharing expertise and formulating ideas each day.

Issues will come up from time to time, how do you overcome an issue?

I begin by evaluating the cause of the issue. This simplifies the problem, allowing me to understand how it began. Once I’ve ascertained the origin of the issue, I can then begin to work on a solution with a better understanding of how it unfolded in the first place.

At Act-Clean we have received training on problem solving and management of challenging situations, which has put us employees in great stead should any obstacle arise. If I can’t work out a solution myself I contact my teammates, the other operations managers or senior leadership, to find the answer. In this way, collaboration and communication are so important to my role and overcoming issues.

What are your next steps?

I’m looking to continue to prosper and grow under the guidance of the excellent training and development available to employees at Act-Clean. I’m hopeful that Act-Clean can continue to expand and provide more opportunities to enhance my experience at the company.

How would you summarise the ethos at Act-Clean with one sentence?

We strive to work together, help each other and are passionate about delivering a dedicated, high-quality service to our clients.
